AREA DESCRIPTION: Community oriented neighborhood with a friendly suburban well-maintained feel. Almaden Valley is nestled between the Santa Teresa hills and the Santa Cruz mountains with views of the iconic peak Mt Umunhum. Great public schools with a few private school options as well. Almaden Golf and country club is tucked in among the houses in the foothills. There are many sports and activity options for families and kids including summer time cabana swim teams plus recreation and competitive sports teams as well as community service opportunities (Martin Fontana Parks Association). Almaden is an outdoor-focused community with many people walking and biking to schools and local attractions. Lots of natural open space including convenient access to several local city and county parks with great hiking in Quicksilver County Park and Guadalupe Oak Grove Park.
Why Almaden Valley?
What brought Theresa and her family here in the first place was the larger lots, larger homes built in the 1970s (not 50s/60s) and great schools to raise our family! Theresa and her family continue to enjoy life in Almaden Valley including the plentiful outdoor options which encourage us to actively participate in the amazing San Jose area weather! Almaden Valley also has a great community of friendly people where many neighbors know and look out for each other. You will notice that homes in this area are well-maintained on peaceful wide streets. Due to the surrounding foothills, almost everywhere in the area you have gorgeous mountain views including the iconic Mt Umunhum. The community is very active and bike friendly. You will frequently see people out for a walk or run on the local paths or in the local parks. Almaden Valley also has many sport options for all ages including competitive and recreational swim, baseball, basketball, soccer and more.
Outdoor Recreation Options
My favorite Almaden Valley outdoor space recreation options include Almaden Quicksilver County Park, Calero County Park, Almaden Lake, Guadalupe Oak Grove Park and the numerous linking paths and trails (Los Alamitos Creek Trail and Guadalupe Creek Trail) that take you to Almaden Lake or all the way back into Almaden Valley to Greystone Park or Carrabelle Park. There are also many membership swim clubs and Almaden Country Club if you have interest in these options.
Almaden Valley Shopping
There are plentiful shopping options at Oakridge mall and along Blossom Hill Road as well as several shopping corners throughout Almaden Valley with popular restaurant and coffee shop destinations.
The 4 main shopping centers are:
- Almaden Oaks shopping center at Meridian and Redmond Ave with Lucky and the popular BLVD coffee and Thai Love You
- Almaden Center shopping center at Almaden Expressway and Camden Ave with Safeway, Starbucks, Almaden Sushi and Ace Hardware.
- Bloomsters shopping center at Almaden Expressway and McAbee Rd with local favorite Legends Pizza
